The margarita isn’t a part of Europe’s long cocktail heritage, but there’s a simple way you could add a “taste of Italy” to this drink. All you need is a bottle of authentic amaretto. A dash of this almond-flavored liqueur is all it takes to transport your margarita to the land of Michelangelo!

While we’re not 100 percent sure about the CBD laws in Italy, we don’t suspect there’d be an issue adding a dropperful of Tribe CBD oil to this drink. No matter where you come from, it’s hard to resist CBD’s calming effects!

CBD Italian Margarita Cocktail Recipe

Italiano Meets Mexicano — Taste Tribe's CBD Italian Margarita

Amaretto may taste like almonds, but it doesn’t always contain almond extract. Interestingly, some of Italy’s oldest amaretto recipes only use apricot or peach stones to give this liqueur its lovely nutty aromatics.

While amaretto is a common feature in cocktails like the Godfather, many Italians drink it straight. If you need help with appetite or digestion, you may want to consider adding a swig of amaretto before a big meal.

FYI: Some variations on the Italian margarita don’t mix amaretto into the cocktail. Instead, bartenders serve the Italian margarita with a shot of amaretto on the side. Consider trying this drink both ways to find what works best for you!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • ½ ounce Cointreau
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz amaretto
  • 1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil
  • Orange slice

Directions

  • Pour tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and amaretto into a cocktail shaker
  • Add ice and shake for a few seconds
  • Strain into a margarita or rocks glass
  • Top with Tribe CBD oil and an orange slice

If you find this drink a touch too tart—or you’re looking to cut down on alcohol—you may want to swap the Cointreau for a little OJ. The sweet flavors in orange juice help round out the sour notes from the fresh lime. Plus, since this cocktail calls for an orange garnish, there’s no need to worry about clashing flavors.

By the way, there is a margarita variation that only calls for orange juice, tequila, and triple sec. Instead of being named after a European nation, this OJ margarita has a US state in its title. Could you guess what this cocktail is named after?

Hint: It’s the second-largest US state by land mass.

If you guessed the Lone Star State, then congratulate yourself with a Texan margarita at your next get-together!
