Although Tribe CBD’s primary focus is to provide premium CBD products, we’re also big believers in secondary hemp cannabinoids. We understand that not everyone’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) reacts to CBD in a similar way. For these reasons, we’ve begun researching and developing new hemp extracts with other non-psychoactive compounds.

Most recently, Tribe CBD launched our new line of CBG capsules. By now, many hemp fans may have heard that CBG is the precursor to other major cannabinoids, including the infamous delta-9 THC. Since THC is associated with weed’s “high” effects, some customers believe CBG must also have some of THC’s psychoactive properties.

If you’re concerned about CBG’s psychoactivity, you need to keep reading. In this post, we’ll explain why CBG isn’t as scary as it may seem.

Does CBG Have Psychoactive Properties?

As mentioned in the intro, CBG helps form other cannabinoids like THC and CBD. Interestingly, when the hemp plant is young, it has an overabundance of CBG in its system. As hemp matures into a full-flowering plant, these CBG molecules transform into the more familiar THC and CBD. When farmers harvest hemp nugs, there’s usually only ≤ 1 percent total CBG content.

Even though CBG is the “parent” of delta-9 THC, recent research shows it doesn’t have the same psychoactive properties. CBG doesn’t appear to land on the brain’s CB1 receptors nor induce a “high” sensation. Instead, CBG works on the endocannabinoid system similarly to CBD.

Therefore, people who take CBG capsules don’t have to worry about disorienting side effects, hallucinations, or panic attacks. Of course, anyone could have an allergic reaction to CBG, but the chances of having a severe side effect are lower than using a THC strain.

So, How Does CBG Make Users Feel?

If CBG doesn’t make customers feel “high,” what effect does it have? Unfortunately, we don’t have enough scientific evidence on how CBG affects healthy patients. Since CBG is so scarce in the hemp plant, it’s one of the more costly cannabinoids to study at a university level.

However, now that CBG products are becoming more common, there are hundreds of anecdotal testimonies about CBG. The majority of people who take CBG claim it has very similar effects to CBD. Patients often report sensations such as mild euphoria, enhanced focus, and a good mood. CBG may also have anti-inflammatory benefits, which explains why athletes and chronic pain patients love using this cannabinoid.

Again, we don’t know how CBG differs from CBD, but recent findings suggest they have similar features. Some people who don’t have a positive response to CBD may find CBG works better for them. Conversely, some patients claim CBD-heavy products are more effective than CBG.

How CBG will affect you largely depends on your ECS. So, if you find CBD oils don’t give you the full effects you’re looking for, it may be worthwhile giving our CBG capsules a try.

Is There Any CBG In Tribe’s CBD Oil?

Please remember that Tribe’s signature CBD oil is a full-spectrum extract. This means we preserve all the secondary terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids naturally present in the hemp plant. Our customers will experience tiny traces of lesser-known compounds like CBG when they use Tribe’s top-selling full-spectrum CBD oil. Also, please remember we always triple-check that our products have ≤ 0.3 percent delta-9 THC and zero traces of pesticides, heavy metals, and solvents.
