With a 100-plus-year history, you’d think that bartenders would’ve ironed out a standard Singapore Sling recipe by now. Alas, the Singapore Sling remains one of the most hotly contested drinks in the classic cocktail canon. If you’re going to try making this proto-Tiki concoction at home, be prepared to play around with our ingredients list till you find what works for you.

Just don’t forget to use our citrus-flavored CBD oil to add some extra zing to your Singapore Sling!

Although the Raffles Hotel Singapore calls dibs on the Singapore Sling, it’s unclear where this cocktail was first invented. Indeed, according to a few historians, there was a version of the Singapore Sling swinging around the former British colony years before it appeared at Raffles.

Arguably, the only thing that’s uncontroversial about the Singapore Sling’s recipe is its primary liquor: gin. Indeed, many people consider the Singapore Sling a sweet Southeast Asian riff on the traditional gin sling.

Below, we’ll try our best to replicate the Singapore Sling that’s served at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel…except for the CBD part.

  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • ½ oz lime juice

  • Add ice and shake for about 10 seconds
  • Strain into an ice-filled highball or hurricane glass
  • Top with club soda and a dab of Tribe CBD oil
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry and pineapple wedge

When you’re trying to figure out your preferred ratios for a Singapore Sling, please resist the urge to create a “picture perfect” cocktail. It’s quite common for new bartenders to play up certain ingredients (ahem, grenadine) simply to produce this cocktail’s vibrant pink color. While this may make your drink look pretty, it often results in an unbalanced flavor.

Remember: there is no such thing as a standard Singapore Sling. Please don’t hesitate to modify this cocktail’s specs till you find a version that suits your fancy.
